Northern California Regional Members Gather in Sacramento

On October 21, CUEA members and partners gathered for the Sacramento/Redding/Northern California Regional Member Meeting, hosted by Golden State Water Company.

The conversation focused on how utilities can strengthen coordination before and during emergencies. Members discussed coordination pathways, mutual assistance, information sharing, field-access challenges, resilient communications, and the connections between utilities, CUEA, and government partners.

Participants also explored how CUEA’s website and member resources can make preparedness information, coordination tools, training opportunities, after-action reports, and mutual assistance resources easier to access.

A key part of the meeting was a review of the draft California Utilities Multi-Agency Coordination (UMAC) Guide. Special guests from Prestige Analytics, Inc. shared the guide’s progress and gathered member feedback to help ensure it reflects the practical needs of California’s utility sectors.

Regional meetings create valuable opportunities for members to build relationships, better understand one another’s operations and interdependencies, and work through coordination challenges before an emergency occurs.

Thank you to Golden State Water Company for hosting, to Prestige Analytics for guiding the UMAC discussion, and to everyone who joined us and contributed their experience and perspective.
