CUEA recently met with the Cal OES Disaster Logistics Team for the first time in more than five years to discuss shared priorities and opportunities to strengthen disaster recovery coordination across California.
The discussion focused on integrating recovery planning into emergency response efforts from the earliest stages of an incident. Both organizations emphasized the importance of establishing strong relationships with local Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) before disasters occur to improve communication, resource coordination, and recovery outcomes.
The Cal OES Disaster Logistics Team plays a critical role in connecting CUEA and member utilities with local EOCs through Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMATs). Strengthening these relationships will help utilities gain greater visibility into emergency management operations and improve access to resources during response and recovery efforts.
Moving forward, CUEA and Cal OES will continue meeting regularly to share updates, coordinate planning efforts, and provide input on procedures that impact both organizations and the utilities they serve.
